EBONY CONSORT
Ebony Consort is a contemporary chamber‐jazz duo founded by award-winning recording artist, double bassist and composer Csaba Pengő and clarinet/saxophone player Bálint Uher-Győrfi.
Their original music blends composed and improvised forms rooted in Central European classical and jazz heritage, presenting a very unique, refined, distinctive acoustic sound filled with emotional depth and technical mastery.
Csaba Pengő exclusively performs on his self-designed and handcrafted double bass. He received his degree (musician and teacher of jazz double-bass) at Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music in 2004.
His all-original instrumental solo debut album Circles was released in 2021 with Inexhaustible Editions Records out of Slovenia, EU.
In 2023, his second solo album Autumn Rain in a Secret Garden won the ’Solo Instrumental Album Of The Year’ award by the largest highest-resolution audio download store Native DSD based in the Netherlands.
Bálint Uher-Győrfi focused solely on classical clarinet early in his career but his interest turned towards jazz and the saxophone itself. He graduated from the jazz saxophone department of Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, Budapest, Hungary in 2022. He tours with a variety of bands and productions (Orbay Lilla Quintet, Tribute To Füsti Balogh Band) and also teaches music in Budapest.
